Three wanted kidnappers and bandits have been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.
In a statement on Tuesday, spokesperson of the command, Josephine Adeh, said the arrests were made following a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
According to the statement, the suspects include Abdulkadir Abubakar 25, from Mpape, Abuja; Mohammed Tasiu Sani, 25, from Rigina, Kaduna State; and 27-year-old Suleiman Jibrin from Sabon-Gayan, also in Kaduna State.
It was gathered that they were apprehended on Sunday, June 29, 2025, in an operation that spanned Wukushi in Mpape and Rigina.
Adeh, said the arrested suspects operated notorious kidnapping camps within the Kachia and Rigina forests in Kaduna State.
The police spokesperson said the camps served as detention sites for kidnap victims and have been linked to multiple abductions across Jere, Kajuru, and parts of the FCT.
The statement said, “In the continued effort to rid the Federal Capital Territory and its environs of all forms of criminality, the operatives of the Command, acting on strategic directive of the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Ajao Adewale, have achieved a breakthrough with the arrest of three notorious and wanted kidnappers/bandits.
“The arrest was carried out on 29th June, 2025, on the heels of an actionable intelligence and a well-coordinated operation led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey, spanning Wukushi, Mpape in the FCT, and Rigina, Kaduna State, led to the arrest of Abdulkadir Abubakar of Mpape, FCT, Mohammed Tasiu Sani, 25 years, of Rigina, Kaduna State, and Suleiman Jibrin, 27 years, from Sabon-Gayan, Kaduna State.
“The suspects were known to operate deadly camps within the forests of Kachia and Rigina in Kaduna State, where victims were held for extended periods and have been linked to several kidnapping incidents across Jere, Kajuru, and parts of the Federal Capital Territory.”
Adeh said an operational motorcycle, commonly referred to as “Boko Haram motorcycle,” was recovered during the operation.
She added that efforts were ongoing to recover more weapons and arrest other fleeing accomplices.
Adeh said further that the suspects were currently in custody and were assisting the police with investigations to dismantle their criminal network.
According to her, their arrest marks a significant step in the command’s efforts to restore peace and security across the FCT.
