The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Rev. Sunday Agang, has been abducted by gunmen. Agang was said to have been abducted on Tuesday when six gunmen invaded his residence at Farin-Gada area of Jos, Plateau state capital, at about 2:30 pm.
ECWA spokesperson, Dickson Auta, confirmed the incident in a statement in Jos.
Auta said the church is worried over what it described as a rising spate of attacks on its clergy and members, particularly in Plateau and Kwara states.
The church called on the public to remain calm and prayerful.
Police authorities said a rescue operation has been launched, with efforts underway to track down the kidnappers and secure the safe release of the victim.
