Bandits ambush security team in Kebbi, kill 10

A police officer and nine soldiers have been reportedly killed in a deadly ambush by bandits in Giro community, Shanga Local Government Area  of Kebbi state.
The attack occurred on Wednesday when the security operatives, traced the bandits to a construction company yard following a tip-off from residents.
However, the security operatives were ambushed by the criminals along the way.
A police officer and nine soldiers were reportedly killed in the attack while several others were injured.
The two military trucks conveying the personnel were also set ablazed.
Kebbi state state governor, Nasir Idris, has visited visited the wounded security personnel at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, where they were taken to.
Speaking to journalists after the visit, the governor, described the incident as unfortunate.
He assured that the state government would cover the medical bills of the injured and provide support to the families of the deceased security personnel.
“Everybody knows that government of Kebbi doesn’t play with security issues. We are here, we have seen things by ourselves.
He said the Chief Medical Director of the hospital had been directed to ensure they do the needful for those that were receiving treatment.
The governor added that the state government will do everything possible to assist the family of the deceased personnels.
