“It must be stressed that such acts are against our regulations and laid down code of conduct”, the statement said.
The arrest was sequel to a petition written by the minor’s family, through their lawyers at Gamji Lawchain, over the disappearance of the girl.
In the petition, the family said their daughter, who was 16 years old at the time, went missing in November 2023 in Hadejia, Jigawa state.
In the petition, the family said their search for the girl was futile, leading to the death of the girl’s mother, who was said to have suffered psychological trauma due to the disappearance of her daughter.
A twist occurred on January 1, 2026, when Abdulhadi Ibrahim, the father of the girl, received a phone call from one Festus, who identified himself as a DSS officer.
During the phone conversation, the DSS officer was said to have informed Ibrahim that his daughter is currently with him and has given birth.
Festus was said to have asked the girl’s father to “come to Abuja for discussions”, stating that he is “ready to marry her”.
Since the father could not make it to Abuja, he asked Muhammad Badamasi Ibrahim, a representative, to enquire about the whereabouts of his daughter in Abuja.
The representative claimed that the girl was allegedly living with the DSS officer at a DSS facility in Karmajiji, Abuja.
The petition was sent to the DSS, inspector-general of police, and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA)uct”, the statement said.
