Again bandits kill 14  in Plateau

At least 14 people have been killed in yet another  attack by  bandits near Chirang village in Bokkos Local Government Area n̈of Plateau.
Chairman of Bokkos Bokkos Cultural Development Forum (BCDF) Vanguard , Farmasum Fuddang, who confirmed  the attack said it  is part of a broader pattern of violence that has plagued Plateau central in recent times.
Fuddang said the victims were returning from the weekly market in Bokkos town on Thursday when their vehicle came under attack by the assailants.
He said the killing comes barely two days after a man was murdered in the same area.
The BCDF chairman said, up to 100 people have been killed in the area within the last two years, including over 60 murdered on Christmas Eve in 2023.
Alfred Alabo, police spokesperson in Plateau, was not immediately available for comments on the incident when contacted.
There has been a rise in bandits attacks in the state in recent times.
On July 15, 27 farmers, including women, were killed when bandits attacked the Bindi-Jebbu and Tahoss communities in the Riyom LGA of the state.
Their remains  were laid to rest in a mass burial on Friday, July 25.
