The Kaduna state police command has arrested a 59-year-old man accused of impersonating governors, security chiefs, and top government officials
In a statement on Tuesday, Mansir Hassan, spokesperson of the command, identified the suspect as Aminu Ardo Yarima from Bichi Local Government Area of Kano state.
According to the police, Yarima was
apprehended on July 19, 2025, at his residence in Keffi, Nasarawa state, following credible intelligence and weeks of sustained surveillance.
Hassan said, upon arrest, the suspect confessed to having impersonated several high-profile personalities, including the governors of Kaduna, Nasarawa and Kogi states.
Others, according to the police, include, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), wife of the late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, wife of the Kogi state governor, the Inspector-General of Police, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) and several other prominent figures.
Hassan said during a search conducted at the residence of the suspect, five mobile phones, 23 SIM cards and several diary books and jotters were found.
The statement added that the diary contained phone numbers of all the Chiefs of Staff to the governors of the 36 states and those of high-ranking federal and state officials and traditional rulers.
Hassan said preliminary investigation has commenced, and the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
