Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna state, says security measures had been adopted at all levels to ensure the security of corp members serving in the state.
The said this on Tuesday while declaring opened the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 Orientation Course by the National Youth Service Corps NYSC), at its temporary camp at Government College, Kaduna.
The governor who was represented by Rabi Salisu, chairperson, NYSC governing board, however, urged the corp members to be security conscious and cooperate with security operatives to ensure a secured environment.
“I want to assure you that the government at all levels have put in place various security measures that will ensure your security and safety throughout the service year.
“However, I urge you also to be security conscious and cooperate with all the security operatives to help us achieve secured environment,” the governor said.
He louded the NYSC for its contributions to nation building, noting that “over the years, the National Youth Service Corps scheme has been providing veritable platform for the educated Nigerian youths to contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.”
The governor urged the corp members to leave enduring legacies behind in all facets of our society like their predecessors over the years.
“Therefore, as you come on board the NYSC, I urge you to be disciplined, loyal, committed, hardworking and respectful to all constituted authorities,” Sani admonished them.
He further urged corp members to avoid all negative tendencies like corruption, tribalism, religious extremism, violence and other immoral acts that have bedeviled the society.
Earlier in his remarks, Hassan Taura, Kaduna state NYSC coordinator, thanked the governor for his “positive disposition to the smooth operations of the NYSC in the state.”
Taura said, the orientation course was designed to mould corp members into highy disciplined and patriotic youths, capable of leading the country to greater heights.
He added that the orientation course also offers corp members the opportunity to interact with their contemporaries from different cultural backgrounds with a view to building an enduring relationship across ethnic and religious boundaries, thereby, promoting national unity and integration.
