Chris Ita, former Cross River HoS is dead

A former Head of Service (HoS) in Cross River state, Dr. Chris Ita, is dead.
His death was announced in a letter by the family, dated August 18, and addressed to the President General of Keffi Old Boys Association (KOBA), an umbrella body for old boys of Government College, Keffi, in Nasarawa state, where the deceased had his secondary education.
Ita served as Head of Service (HoS) during the administration of the immediate past governor of the state, Prof. Ben Ayade.
The deceased was an active member of KOBA. He served as a member of the National Executives of the association and until his death, he was the coordinator of KOBA in the South-South geo-political zone.
Wife of the deceased, Lovelyn Chris Ita, said in the letter that  her husband died in the early hours of Friday, August 11, 2023.
She added that burial had been fixed for September 8, 2023.
“We wish to notify you of the sudden death of our beloved husband and father, late Dr. Chris Ekeng Epenyong Ita, former Head of Service of Cross River State, who died in the early hours of Friday 11th August, 2023 at his residence No. 3/5, Doctor’s Avenue, Ekorinim II, Calabar – Cross River State”, the  letter reads.
“He will be buried on the 8th of September, 2023 in Calabar, Cross River State.
“We therefore solicit condolence messages, prayers and support towards his befitting burial latest 27th August, 2023.
“Condolence messages can be sent to: mauriceessien8@gmail.com latest 27th August, 2023.”
Dr. Sonny K. Ogarekpe, a USA based member of KOBA and friend of the deceased forwarded the family’s letter to the KOBA President General, through John Shiklam, a former National Publicity Secretary of the association.
Ogarekpe said he was saddened by Ita’s death.
“With gratitude to God for a life well spent and with deep sadness and sorrow, I forward a letter announcing the passing into eternal glory in Calabar, Cross River State, of a great KOBA, Dr. Chris E. Ita, my ‘junior’ brother, a close friend, and an epitome of KOBA
“Please let us keep his family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers on. May his soul rest in perfect peace”, Ogarekpe said.
